Hubbies Birthday

This pic of him always makes me laugh! The big disadvantage to today is I will be 50 in 1 year and 3 weeks!!!!.

I have been very erratic in my posting since just before Christmas. The reason being, my girls! How do they stop me posting, well, they are around and whilst they are here I take every opportunity to spend time with them, listen to them, laugh (alot) with them and generally chat!

The older they get the closer they are to leaving home, so I want to make sure I soak in every tiny moment. Be there when they need me and just generally enjoy their company.

I get the feeling though that we have a very special relationship and that when they do fly the nest, they will flutter back.................

alot!

Off to visit my mum this week so won't be around much!

All go in this household!

As you can see I couldn't sleep!! As I have so much to do today I thought I would do a quick post!

Off to collect K today, apparently whilst Mr Motortrader, drove the car (80+ miles, so he said)yesterday, no red light came on! Hrmph! But he is apparently putting it in to Peugout today!! I shall probably pick it up on the way back!!! Maybe!
Then T has an appointment to check her eyes, then we start getting ready for the wedding!!!! Unless I can fit some more time in, in the garden!!!!

I pottered around outside yesterday

my first climbing french bean has emerged!!!

I have lifted a row of slabs

and started digging. This will be about a metre wide at its thinnest! It is a long time since this bed has been really dug, it is full of bind weed!! Which means I may have to take out the fennel and angelica as the bindweed will have interwoven into their roots!! The jungle plants I will be planting here are not cheap and I can't afford for them to be smoothered by bindweed, even if it does give it an authentic look!!!!!!! You can see how much sun is here which makes it very hot area to work in!

Look at the size of the caster oil plant now!!! I have 2 of these!

These are just 2 of the Elephants Ears that are coming along in the green house! I also planted some brugmansia seeds and the most beautiul morning glory seeds that are red, white and frilly, be interesting to see if they come through. I have alot of flower seeds on the go and intend to have flower beds full of flowers this year!!

I have ordered some 'ripstop nylon' from Ebay! Now shall I tell you what I'm going to make with this or not?????? MMmmmmmmmmm!!!! A Clue.... its for in the garden and I shall have to cut and sew it and if it works it will be quite big!!!

All Sorts!

We left home at 9am it took us 44 minutes just to get through Chippenham, 44 minutes and there didn't seem to be any reason except traffic!!! Anyway we made it to Bath for 10.25 appointment with 10 minutes to spare, passing the Bath Rugby Training Ground and they where all there, training away, unfortunately for me the traffic at that time was not going slowly so I didn't get a good look:) Anyway Tori is done and dusted at the ortodontist, they are very pleased with her and said what magnificent teeth she has (all the better to eat you with!!).

So now what.................. what to put on the blog, uummm, so took a wander down my garden to see the chickens, who decided to only lay 1 egg today, 4 chickens and only one egg hhrumph! Can you tell I'm not in a good mood!!!

I found Autumn is on the way!

I don't think I have ever seen so many berries on the Pyracantha. In the front I have a Cotoneaster which is also smoothered in berries, alot more than usual. When I visited my sister in East Sussex just over a week ago we went out for a walk and the holly trees where also covered in berries. So are we in for a hard winter???? I wonder!

I don't suppose many people have one of these

I can't believe this Brugmansia, I have recorded 5C a couple of times on the patio at night and look its still flowering and more buds coming, it still has the most magnificent scent! I don't know how I will fit it in the greenhouse this year, it has got so big, probably have to dig a hole!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally

any ideas what this is? I had forgotton how late this plant flowered, this is just one of the buds, I will take pics over the next week and we can watch it unfurl. I might even tell you what the plant is, if you haven't guessed by then!!

Back to school for Tori!

Its been a tough few days. Tori has like most children not wanted to go back to school! She hates change and the school have changed there start and finish times, which of course alters all the lesson times. Anyway up at 06.30 to wake her, expecting all sorts of problems but, altho she dragged her heels abit, she was ready. We left at the usual time because we have a junction to negotiate where A3102 meets the Devizes/Chippenham road and it is hell getting out of there. She went into school fine, I couldn't believe it!
Went to pick her up and it was chaos, in the school carpark, all the 'year 7' mummies where there, parking in the most ridiculous places, no one could move! Out she bounced full of the joys of spring, had a great day (which I knew she would, and told her so!) super timetable. One of the new teachers is excellent etc. etc .etc
I think I need a stiff drink!!!!!!

Monday 4th September

I got a jar and a half of the Blackberry and Sloe Gin Jelly, not bad really when I used half quantities!! Have to wait to taste, but am on the look out for more blackberries as I expect this could taste yummy! While I was out blackberrying I saw loads of elderberries, must find out what I can make with them, also someone on freecycle was offering crab apples something else to think about!
Have finished the chicken run, must take some pics!

This is Kathryn and her college mates out on the razz on Saturday night, it is probably the last time they will all be together before they go to Uni they are a great bunch. Kathryn is behind the girl who is bent over in the centre of the picture. That is Elli her best friend, she is off to West of England Uni, Kathryn is going to Worcester, only a train ride away from each other!

This is Tori (Victoria) my youngest daughter she suffers with Aspergers. A very special person this is a rare photo of her smiling, I caught her on a good day. She and Kathryn are very close and Kathryn has a way with her, she can get Tori to do things I can't! Tori has had a tough year and is currently under a physchiatrist! She has an exceptional IQ and sets herself frighteningly high standards, which if she doesn't achieve will beat herself up about! The school she is at has (past tense) been very good for her, but since her period of severe depression, not been as supportive as we would have hoped. Because she is a clever girl, no matter what, Tori will probably achieve A-C grades in her GCSE's. So the school are happy, they are not helping her achieve her ability of A, A* by supporting her, we have to fight all the way, its like climbing a rock face (not that I have, searching for every hand hole) we have to search out any help we can no one is there to say ' what about this, have you thought about that or take my hand'.

Enough of my ranting, her favourite colour is black, she likes the 'Goth' look altho I am not sure she is one. She is exceptional at English, she also was in Science, but the school lost her! ( A great shame when the country is so short of scientists). Anyway today we are off to buy her some Dr Martin boots I expect in her favourite colour.
