We had a lovely time, plenty of good company, good food and lashings of wine and even birthday cake, it was my nieces 21st! But boy was it warm, I got sunburnt, which is surprising as I am always very careful, but we spent alot of time outside in the shade of the trees and I am crisp!!!!!!
Whilst we where there, there was a most glorious sunset
We travelled back Saturday evening as I couldn't bear the thought of being stuck in traffic in the heat and we had a brilliant journey. Sunday morning I was back out in the garden finishing off what I had started on the patio before I left. Would you like a look?
Before..........
Now after..
We had 2 reasons for doing this:-
1. the ivy was taking over
2. I had to move my water feature
You can see it in the 2nd after pic, bottom left. To be honest it had to be sorted as we are awaiting delivery of a large water butt which ment digging up plants which are now dieing and re-laying slabs.
Right things to do, must dash.....................

Glad you had such a brilliant time even though you got sunburnt. What a beautiful sunset....and your tropical garden looks wonderful :o)

Great to know you had a good time and what a good decision to set out Saturday night. The heat yesterday was over powering!
Great stuff!
Dxx
WOW lashings of heavy rain for weeks on end, and now you're getting sunburnt!! Changeable weather!
Your garden, as always, looks super, you are so industrious. I'm still hobbling with this foot, so the gardening is suffering from lack of attention, but it's been very hot and the most I can do is a bit of watering in the evening.
Your garden always amazes me, what can't you grow..?
Glad you had a good time, apart from the sunburn of course.
Do you ever sit down..??!!
Everything looks so neat and pretty in your garden. It's that time in the season when some plants are dying back, others are overtaking their spots - we should all follow your example. In fact, I think I'll just dash out to my garden to pull a little here and there. Thanks, Libby.
Fantastic - I was out before breakfast and back at bedtime yesterday so couldn't access a computer.
Wonderful - I love that fencing it is great isn't it, and the fact that you have fencing behind it means it will last and last
Some folks around the corner to me, ripped out a long and beautiful traditional hedge when they moved in, and put up that fencing - it looked lovely for the first summer and by the next it was falling to bits.
They didn't take into account why the cottagers had planted the hedging when the cottage was built LOL
The whipping winter winds from across the fields.
I saw some little hedging plants going in this year in front of the flagging and sagging and holey fence.
What a lovely sheltered and secluded spot you have made - I can imagine sitting right there will a cool drink and something tasty to nibble.
Glad you had a good time - shame about the sunburn.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I enjoyed your pictures.
I'm catching up with your last few posts..Congratulations on your 20th wedding anniversary! I love your pendant...superb present! And your hubbie's pocket-watch is amazing too. What a clever choice!
The brugmansias look stunning...and so exotic as well.
This new patio corner is like something out of a gardening magazine. The colours are great. Tea and cream scones for me, please.
What a lot of hard work clearing away all the ivy, but look at the transformation...well worth the effort:)
